Last Will and Testament of Walter Feldwick

In the name of God Amen in the yere of owre Lord God 1557 and in the XViij daye of March I Walter Feldwyke in the paryshe of Westhothlygh in the cowntie of Sussex and in the deiocys of Chechester beynge syke of bodye but holle of mynd and perfect of remembrance thanks be unto allmyghtye god do ordayne and make this my present testament and last wyll in manner and forme followynge Fyrst and before all other thyngs I geve and commette my soulle unto allmyghtye god my maker and redemer desyrynge owre blessed Ladye Saynte Marye with all the holye company of heaven to pray for me and my bodye I bequethe unto the yerth to be buryed in the chyrcheyard of Westhothyghe aforesayd and as tocheyng the dystrybucyon of my temprall goods my porposse ys by the grace of god to bestowe them to be exseptted as frewts of fayth Fyrst I well and bequeth to be bestowed at my buriall or within one monyth after my dessese Viij s unto powre peoplle at the dyscresyon of myne executor Item I geve unto the mother chyrche of Chechester iiij d Item I geve unto the reparacons of the chyrche of Westhothygh aforesayd Vj s Viij d Item I wyll to the viker of Westhothygh and to the parsone of Erdynglygh for tythes neclegently forgotten to everie of them Vj d Item I geve and bequeth unto my dowghtter Annys XX s Item unto her cheldren other XX s to be devyded betwne them by equall porcyons to be payd owt of my mony which ys in the hand of John Ackers her husbond Item I geve and bequeth unto Joane Jeffrye, Thomyssen Payne, Elyssabath Umffrye, Clement Payne, Margaret Gaston and Eme Gatland my dowghters iij li that ys to saye to everye of them Xs to be payd to everie of them within one quarter of a yere of my desses Item I geve and bequeth unto Anne my dowghter X li X s of good and lawfull mony of Englond with all other thyngs which she had by the geft of her mother or hath of her owne the sayd X li X s to be payd unto her when she shall acompleshe the age of XXij yeres yf yt fortewn that the sayd Anne marrye before she shall acompleshe the age aforesayd that then yt ys my wyll that she have and be payd the sayd some at the daye of her marryage Item I geve and bequeth unto John Bennat XL s (40 shillings) to be payd within halfe yere after my desses Item I geve and bequeth unto Thomas Holman Xiij s iiij d to be payd unto hem within one quarter of ayere after my desess Item I geve unto Joane Holman dowghter unto Jeffrye Holman XL s to be payd unto her when she shall acompleshe the age of XVj yeres Item yt ys my wyll that yf the sayd Joane Holman dye before she shall acompleshe the age of XVj yeres as aforesayd that then I wyll her porcyon of XL s to be equallye devyde and shared betwene the cheldren of Jeffrye Holman which he hath or shall hath by my dowghter Joane Item I geve unto Drewe Holman one twelfmonthyng bolloke immedeatlye after my desses Item I geve unto Walter Feldwyke and Wylliam Feldwyke my sonns sonns to every of them one cowe to be delyvered to ther ewse immedeatlye after my desses Item I geve and bequeth unto Rychard Jeffrye and Walter Umffrye my godsons to every of them iij s iiij d Item I geve unto John Gatland my godson one shep Item I geve to everye of my dowghters cheldren exsept them before apoynted and named Xij d apece to be payd immedeatlye after my desses Item I geve and bequeth unto every of my godcheldren iiij d Item I geve and bequeth unto Margaret my wyfe iij li vj s viij d and all such goods of her owne what so ever they be that she browght unto me to be payd and delyvered unto her within one halfe yere next after my desses the resedewe of all my goods cattell and debts after my debts payd my funerall expences performed and thys my legaces fulfelled I holy geve unto John Veldwyke my sonne whom I ordayne and make my holle executor Item I ordayne and make John Akyrst my overseer to se all thyngs herein justly and trewlye executed acordyng to the trewe mene and perport hereof as my specyall trust ys in hem he wyll so do and he to have for hys labowre and paynes in that behalfe iij s iiij d wetnes at the makyng hereof Thomas Payne of Stone, John Gaston, Thomas Coullstocke, John Bennat and I Thomas Browne
